History Artworks
From early childhood Penny has always loved to draw. As a kid she was content with a packet of coloured markers, a clean white sheet of paper and would sketch for hours. It was here that she first became lost in her own dreamworld, inventing characters for stories.
As Penny got older she became engrossed in reading biographies of people's lives and became fascinated by the human spirit. Everyone has a story to tell and each individual's story is different and unique. In Australian history some people have done extraordinary things like Caroline Chisholm who provided shelter for immigrant women when they first immigrated to Australia, while others opted to live a life of crime; this may have involved robbing banks, prostitution, bushranging or sly grog selling. The element that has remained with Penny since her childhood is the fact that although the stories she paints about are true, she still draws the characters from her imagination.
